New York Public Library grants amnesty to 143K kids with outstanding fines to get them reading again →
NYPL officials said the 143,000 readers - or about 30% of the system’s young cardholders - have been unable to take out books because they owe $15 or more in outstanding late fees accrued through unreturned or late books.
Under the amnesty program, kids can work off outstanding fines.
For every 15 minutes they read as part of the library’s Summer Reading Program, $1 will be deducted from their late fees.
:)

Actually, I could use something like this now. I’m constantly late in returning library books.
